ABOUT HIGHLAND BEACH
Without a single traffic light, the quiet and relaxing Town of Highland Beach serves as nesting grounds for endangered sea turtles. From March through October, turtles come to the shores and lay thousands of eggs in nests all along the beaches. Weeks later, the hatchlings burst from the sand and make their way to the moonlit sea.
The “main street” of Highland Beach is a low-traffic tree-lined stretch of Florida’s state road A1A and a major draw for walkers, runners, and bicyclists.
Highland Beach is strictly a residential community with a year-round population of 3,500 that increases to approximately 8,500 during the Florida “high season” winter months. Residents are distributed in 10-15 story condominium buildings and oceanfront mansions.
At only 1.1 square miles, the Town of Highland Beach is a tiny slice of heaven located at the northeastern tip of Boca Raton between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. To the north, Highland Beach borders action-packed Delray Beach where abundant shopping, restaurants, public beaches, and lively nightlife await.
